I’d like to share some art with you beautiful folks. I’m currently living in Saigon, Vietnam and there’s a nice scene developing here. This first piece is a portrait of myself (narcissistic tendencies confirmed) as a kind of surrealist caricature. It was created by a talented and well traveled artist who works under the name Zee.
Zee never seems to stop creating which is a quality I admire. Alongside portraits like this one he crafts oil paintings of landscapes and other artistic forms.
If you enjoy it, feel free to peruse Zee’s Instagram (@ezeewithzee). You can find many captivating pieces of art and support the artist if you find one that touches you.
One love, Konrad
I’ve been thinking a lot about the timelessness of the written word. I’m going to share a few of my favourite quotes here — I hope you enjoy! If you feel the urge, respond to this post with some of your favourites. 🙂
“We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars.” – Oscar Wilde
“I’d rather have a full bottle in front of me than a full frontal lobotomy.” – Dorothy Parker (Famously repeated by Tom Waits)
“Comparison is the thief of joy.” – Theodore Roosevelt
“The thing men and women need to do is stick together, progressions can’t be made if we’re separate forever.” – Q-Tip (of A Tribe Called Quest)
“Today a young man on acid realised that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, that we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves.” – Bill Hicks
“Why pamper life’s complexities when the leather runs smooth on the passenger seat?” – Morrissey (from The Smith’s ‘This Charming Man’)
“Trying to define yourself is like trying to bite your own teeth.” – Alan Watts
“People usually consider walking on water or in thin air a miracle. But I think the real miracle is not to walk either on water or in thin air, but to walk on earth. Every day we are engaged in a miracle which we don’t even recognise: a blue sky, white clouds, green leaves, the black, curious eyes of a child—our own two eyes. All is a miracle.” – Thich Nhat Hanh
Calling all bloggers — honest.cash allows you to earn BCH (Bitcoin Cash) cryptocurrency donations. The platform is still in its early stages so a lot of reader engagement is geared towards blockchain technology/cryptocurrency discussion.
It is however, a platform for all types of content from fiction to editorial pieces; poetry to sharing artwork and everything in-between. You can now choose to include a paywall on your posts if you wish. You can also earn BCH by upvoting stories early. If the story reaches a certain amount of upvotes, the funds are redistributed between the early upvotes and the author. You may also choose to make your content uncensorable if you wish, utilising the power of blockchain immutability.
If you’re interested, take a look at honest.cash and sign up. While I enjoy reading about blockchain news and opinions, there is still a need to diversify the range of topics discussed. Think Medium but with the option to make your content uncensorable.
I hope to see you there.
